Whistle while you work.

If I were stranded on a island the record I would bring is Copeland: You are my Sunshine. This is one of those albums that you can listen to over and over again and it will never get old. I was introduced to this band my senior year of high school and was skeptical at first but after repeatedly listening to the album I got hooked. After high school I did a year of mission work and my work eventually led me to Mexico. During my week their I would listen to this album as I was constructing a grotto for the town I was in. At night I would also lay in my hammock and fall asleep listening to this album. Still to this day the songs never get old and if this were ever to happen I would be better off with it because it keeps me mellow and always reminds me of good times. On the other hand another one of my favorite albums that I can always listen to is G-Units first album. I don't know what it is but I can always jam and sing along to it. Although, I don't know if it would put me at ease or help me sleep so Copeland it is.

10/28/11 Post

I am writing this blog from 4 days ago and if I had a chance to be able to tell myself that everything was going to be alright those 4 days ago I would have. I took off a whole week for thanksgiving and the friday before so I could go on a vacation to long island. Now the past previous weeks I have been really stressing about my job because of the one guy who hated my guts. Every day was a battle and since now I was moved up to the reception area I needed to be constantly doing something or I would get yelled at and harassed for not being busy. The entire week on long island I was stressing about what was going to happen when I returned the following monday. Walking up to the office monday morning I was freakishly terrified about what the guy who hates me was gonna say along with all the other people that I work with. Another thing I was worried about was getting my paycheck on time. Luckily though nothing happened and it turned out to be a great week at work along with an awesome paycheck. I love my life right now. Thank God

Crossing Boarders

My group was the Gypsy Kings and this review was written in 1995 before a show at the Atlantic City Trump Plaza.
The public response to the pop make-over was immediate. Suddenly the Gipsy Kings were a Top 40 phenomenon throughout Europe, and "Bamboleo" an inescapable dance track. Reyes says it didn't matter then -- and it doesn't matter now -- that the vast majority of the people buying the band's records can't understand the lyrics. "The way the music is created and performed is so passionate that people understand the emotion -- that's what important. It just come right through the rhythms and the voices."
The Authors review is a great one and accurate one. The gypsy kings have such a unique sound that anyone can easily listen too.
While the current tour coincides with the release of "The Best of the Gipsy Kings" -- a greatest hits collection that includes "Bamboleo," "Volare," "Djobi Djoba" and the current single "A tu Vera" -- the band has already recorded a new, as yet untitled album for release next year. In the meantime, Reyes says the group and its five accompanists are looking forward to the stateside jaunt. "We always listen to American pop and soul when we are there," he says. "We like early James Brown and Ray Charles and especially Frank Sinatra. We even do 'My Way.'
I think it impossible not to like the the way this band does music. They have appeared in movies like toy story and have put their spin on classic music that really does the song justice. Gypsy Kings will always be a group that I enjoy

The Stresses of Life.

Last Thursday at work i got chewed out pretty hard by my boss about not being productive. For the past two months I was given a project with no real due date because it was not really that important. Everytime I would be working on it though, the CEO of the company would walk by and ask what I was doing and I would tell him that I was working on the competition spreadsheet. Now I can see how he would get the idea that i was doing nothing when everytime he would come around I would be working on the same thing, but what he failed to realize is that it was not the only thing I was working on. I was doing other projects for other people but all he noticed was me doing the spreadsheet. So he calls me into his office last Thursday and just grills me for having done nothing since I've worked here and all I can really do is take it and move on. Since then though he has nothing nice to ever say about me and I can tell that he just hates my guts for really no apparent reason because I'm such a quiet but nice guy . The only thing I can do is pray for this guy to stop hating me and realize that I am an intern and interns are suppose to many projects on their hands. I'm glad I could vent finally.

It's the end of the world?

Honestly, I totally forgot that it was 11/11/11 and i had no idea that it was suppose to be apocalyptic. I have no idea why people believe this mumbo jumbo. Only the crazy people believe that the world is going to end on a predicted day. I figured the Mayans just got tired of writing the calendar so they stopped. How many people have predicted that the world was going to end and at the end of the day we are all still here. Maybe its time people stopped trying to predict and actually live their life to the fullest potential. In my opinion no one will know when the end of days will be so why waste my time guessing or following some cult that thinks they do. If the world does end next year then so be it most people will be able to say that they lived their life. Others who were afraid and lived their lives in fear of the end will just regret it and have nothing in their life to be proud for. That page with the stones in Georgia is pretty cool i had never heard of them until now. It is amazing to see how many people believe in this ridiculousness and actually fear that their lives are going to end. I would rather live my life to the fullest than in fear of the end.

devil went down to ?

I do not think Robert Johnson actually sold his soul to the devil I just think people thought he did because he was musically talented and to be that talented must have been a sign to other people that he was full of evil powers. I think robert johnson acknowledged the idea that people thought he had sold his soul so he wrote the song crossroad to relay to everyone that he might have or might have not. It was simply a publicity stunt to get people to listen to his music and make him more popular among the people. I know that back in the day people were more prone to superstition but in all reality a person can not literally sell his soul. I think it is more of an analogy. One can ruin his soul by committing mortal sins and worshiping the devil, but I don't think johnson did that I think he loved the attention he got from playing the blues.  In all Robert Johnson was just a forgotten and then refund soul. He was thought to have sold his soul but in my opinion he just wanted the recognition and publicity. The devil did not go down to the crossroads and he was not looking for a soul to steal.

News that does not make sense

Yesterday in the news specifically ESPN, I watched as Magic Johnson addressed the fact that 20 years ago he spoke to the public about how he was diagnosed with HIV. Now I am in no way criticizing the fact that this man has aids but how is this relevant to anything. I could understand if he had died twenty years ago but the fact that they have a 20th anniversary of him proclaiming the matter baffles me. News today tends to cover some really stupid stories that later end up on Leno or the daily show. Stories like what celebrities name there babies and what clothes they decide to put on for the day is not news and I do not see how normal people find this entertaining or relevant. News should be reporting us on important news like how this nation is on the brink of economic collapse, or how Europe might see the same collapse. Nobody realizes how important these issues are and how they can severely effect people around the world. So for those 99% of people who are obsessed with celebrity and social news you need to start focusing on the real matters at hand.

Just me and the blues

For the past two weeks in history class we have been learning about how ancient African dynasties like the Mali people influenced Spanish colonies with  stringed like instruments which later reach south America and parts of north America. I think that these are the roots that eventually led to American music like jazz and the blues. Most music today can find some root in African American culture. Now on the matters of when original American sound came out is any ones guess, Most will say that American music started with jazz and the blues which is fairly accurate and i believe that it is the most original sound that America has. You can argue that Americans were the first to attempt this new sound which would lead to other genres like rock and roll, rap, r&B, and pop. American sound and music is all original and our own. Other nations have tried to copy this sound, some succeeding while other failing, but for the most part this sound is original. When you think about respected artist in each of the fields i have just mentioned most likelier than none they will all be American or African American. The original music sound in America has always been original and who knows what new trends will start.

Ima dawg

These two articles seem identically alike. It seems like one of the writers just copy and pasted the worlds on a different document and added some words here and there. The tone of the two articles are the same. They both explained how they were both tripping pretty hard and how they ran the streets naked looking for their drugged up dog. They also both include the fact that the dog bit the mother and brother of the owner. The only difference I see in the articles is that in the first one it seems to be the first reported on the incident because in the AJC article it states that the dog has now been euthanized. The article in the AJC has a little more meat in it. It explains how the two were questioned and how they could be charged with animal cruelty. Honestly people like this need to be put in jail or given some hardcore community service. How can you willingly abuse a dog?

This November

This month of November is going to be one huge expense due to the fact that I have to travel to and from new york around thanksgiving. I plan to fly stand by both ways which can also be a pain because you have to spend your entire day in the airport and not be able to know when you will be getting home. The thanksgiving week itself will be amazing due to the fact that I don't have to spend money on food I can just eat everything my girlfriends family makes which is also amazing. Pecan pies, venison, meat, pasta, pizza, anything you want they can make. Thanksgiving is hands down my favorite holiday of the year, but it is also the one that I spend alot of money on each year. Not to mention that Christmas is right around the corner, and that too, especially with a girlfriend, can be a huge expense. Another thing to mention is that in the moth of December it is also my girlfriends birthday on the 28th and on the 1st of January it is going to be our 2 year anniversary. Talk about good luck huh? Thankfully though, my girlfriend is very understanding and realizes that I am not a millionaire and can not afford gifts for every occasion. Although I love these holidays coming up, I don't believe my bank accounts are.

10/26/11

Moral topics today are often regulated by the state. Marijuana for example is only legal in some parts of the country while in others it is illegal. This matter of abortion is probably going to receive sympathy in places like the south where religion is strong. Any where along the bible belt really. I think ultimately though the government should have the final say in anything and especially when it comes to matters of morality and ethics. For example this matter of abortion will continue to play a huge part in America forever. People today are given the  idea that irresponsibility can be easy erased and fixed with no consequences. Our future generation is going to go on thinking that no matter what we do we can always blame someone else or find a way around the problem. Subjects such as abortion need to be re examined and eventually overturned for the effects that it has on the person itself, and also the message it leaves to young people who think that all their problems can be so easily fixed.

The Amendments

Mayor Reed has no right to dismiss the protestors unless they are violating any laws themselves. On that note I think this whole 99% thing is getting a little ridiculous when I was reding up on it. People themselves made decisions in their life that led them in to debt as well and people should be responsible for their own actions. I am not comending what the government did when they bailed out the big companies, but I think what they should have done was manage it so the people who were responisble for the downfall of the economy don't receive big bonus' and pay raises. The government and businesses should have come up with a plan that would make this lending responsible to the citizens of Ameirca. Back to the topic at hand, Citizens have the right to speak freely and protest on matters such as this. They don't have the right to obstruct justice and, to put it lightly, camp out like hobos in tents and such. I guess you can consider these people like the hippies in the 70's who protested in large numbers over the korean war. I think the protest now will eventually fade out because in all honesty what can the government do. I will say that if these conditions do not change then we might end up witnessing something along the likes of a revolution if the numbers are there.

Small businesses boost economy?

http://www.newyorker.com/talk/financial/2011/10/31/111031ta_talk_surowiecki

In society today, most consumers would rather shop at a big chain store rather than shopping at a local one. I will say that there are people who prefer small public markets rather than big chain stores. But the majority I think would rather shop at a walmart or target. The same also goes for businesses. Me personally I would rather have a franchise or well known business handle my problems than a local one. The New York Times article is stating that even though small business lead to jobs they do not help the economy at all. "One can see this by looking at the track record of the world’s economies. The developed countries with the highest percentage of workers employed by small businesses include Greece, Portugal, Spain, and Italy—that is, the four countries whose economic woes are wreaking such havoc on financial markets. Meanwhile, the countries with the lowest percentage of workers employed by small businesses are Germany, Sweden, Denmark, and the U.S.—some of the strongest economies in the world.small businesses are, on the whole, less productive than big businesses, and though they do create most jobs, they also destroy most jobs, since, while starting a business is easy, keeping it going is hard. This is true around the world. A recent study by the World Bank that looked at ninety-nine developing countries found that large firms had significantly higher productivity growth"

Small businesses may seem like a helpful tool to solve this economic problem but in reality their cause is ineffective and even detrimental in our achievement of economic stability.

At least you could give us a reach around!

These past few weeks the media has been obsessed with the occupy wallstreet rally. I think that these rallies are really changing the way people view corporations and just the over-all governemnt influence they gain. I was looking at recent photos of the new york rally and i saw a sign that read " the least you could do is give us a reach around", I thought this was hilarious and showed how pissed people really are. I think the American people have a right to protest these things. It is really terrible what corporations do and when they fuck up they just get a slap on the rist and a huge bailout. Normal harworking American Citizens have to suffer and don't get that type of leniancy that big corporations have. I feel like this is a big step for the American people, but in reality nothing is going to change. This whole idea of an American democracy is so 1776. The only thing the people can decide on is the next president who will most likely continue to lead a nation into destruction. The corporations and the government are now the deciding factors on how this country can become powerful again. If people continue to see no change then eventually the 99% will seek other ways to revolutionize this counrty. Conider it the new Hippie movement but alot more important that lillies and flowers.

Halloween?

For the past couple of years the halloween has been about going out and getting candy, but the now as you get older it shifts towards having parties, dressing like naughty school girls and french maids, and getting shit faced. I have not really done anything for the holiday of Halloweenalthough recently since I got a girlfriend Halloween parties are a must and constumes are even more required. In the past I stopped wearing costumes when I was reaching highschool. Now this year my girlfriend and I are spending money on costumes and also going to a halloween party which should be fun, except for the part where she gets to dress like princess peach and I have to dress up like super mario..I miss those days where dressing up like a power ranger was cooler than ever and getting candy from people you don't even know was more unnoticed and unimportant. I wish I could go back and really take advantage of those people who would buy the full size candies instead of the not so fun "fun size" candies.  People need to reclaim their halloween spirit and realize that its not so much about the impression you leave with your costume, but the joy you put on the childrens face when they get that king size kit kat. I never liked when people gave us candy corn. That stuff is terrible.

The Case of the Vanishing Blonde

http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/features/2010/12/vanishing-blonde-201012?printable=true&currentPage=1

If this article were turned in to a movie I would certainly pay money to view it. Not only did it have crime solving mytery, but it had a good ending as well. The article explains how a rape victim eventually learns who her killer is by a swift and persistant investigator. From the beginning it seems that the rapist will likely get away, but the detectivee never gives up and through hard work finds the rapist. I feel like this would make a really good detective movie.

Actually on second thought this has been done so many times that the movie would likely be a flop...Unless Brad Pitt was the detective and Jennifer Aniston was the rape victim. How many people in life can say that they, through thorough research and investigating, have apprehended a rapist and brought justice to more victims...I certainly would like to say this one day if I ever become a detective.

Who am I?

I think what makes us all unique is our own obsticles in life and how the influences of our relatives and friends help us grow up and undertake those characteristics that we see. In most cases we end up growing up to be exactly like one of our parents or both. In my case I see a huge resemblance of me in my dad. We share the same kind of personality and temperance. He is very laid back always in a relaxed mood. He also has an eagerness to support a family and make sure his kids are raised right. My identity is infused with ifluences from my family and past decisions and obsticle. It also includes my friends who support me and are there for me when I need them. Also my cultural background as a hispanic infuses my ancestors culture with mine and allows me to be even more unique.

Food Inc. 2.0

After watching Food Inc. I havent eaten anything but pizza. Mainly because I do not have any money right now and partly because I do not want to eat Mcdonalds or Burger King. I think the way beef is handled now is more though of and handlesd a little more carefully than before because films like these really rouse and make people think about what they are eating. I think if I had a choice I would rather pay more for something that was free of diseases, even with those odds. I understand the fact that some people just do not have the time or money to spend on healthy made food but there are alternatives to fast food that you can take. Even though I myself always enjoy a double quarter pound with cheese eventually I always look back and realize how bad this is for my health and could really affect the lives of my children in the future. We all must make a conscious decision to strive for better. Also I think it was very sad about the soy bean farmers who were pretty much run by the big companies and had no say in what they could do with their farm. This film really showed how we the consumer have a say when it comes to bringing down these big food conglomerates. We have a choice to put the processed foods down and have something more organic or fresh.

Tomas Transporter

Tomas Transtromer is a Swedish writer, poet and translator, whose poetry has been translated into over 60 languages.Transtromer is acclaimed as one of the most important Scandinavian writers since World War II. He was awarded the 2011 Nobel Prize in Literature.

"Transtromer may be unfamiliar to many American readers, but he was the subject of a Washington Post profile in 1986, his work has been translated into more than 60 languages, and his name has been kicked around among the Nobel-selecting crowd for years, along with such better-known writers as Philip Roth, Thomas Pynchon and even Bob Dylan (a betting favorite among British oddsmakers this week).Hours after the prize was announced, Transtromer’s “The Great Enigma” (2006) soared onto the top-20 best-selling books on Amazon. "- Washigton Post

Here is one of his poems "Mid Winter"
A blue light
radiates from my clothing.
Midwinter.
Clattering tambourines of ice.
I close my eyes.
There is a silent world
there is a crack
where the dead
are smuggled across the border.

I don't really get this poem, but I can tell that it must be really deep and well thought since this guy won the nobel peace prize.

Food Inc.

After watching about two thirds of the documentary I almost wanted to become a vegan, but then I thought of the odds of contracting a virus like salmonella or any of the other ones they list. First off I think most adult humans can overcome the sickness, and second the outbreaks are vastly spread out throughout time so I'm gonna say the odds are around 1:1,000,000,000. I do believe though that the way the animals were treated was some what cruel. The scene where the chickens are getting their necks sliced open was a bit to gruesome for me. I swear I heard one of the chickens screaming "HELP ME" as he was about to be slaughtered. I think one of the messages from the film is to realize how unsafe and cheap bad beef is. Sure places advertise that it is "real meat", but from what remains of the cow or chicken did it come from.

Indian Giver

In todays AJC there is a report about a man who was celebrating his birthday and out of no where a man came and gave him 10 dollars. After handing it to him he reportadely asked for four dollars back. When the birthday boy refused to give him back the money the man shot his in the stomach. Who in their right mind just comes and give 10 dollars to a dude he doesnt even know. Especially 10 dollars??? Not even grandmothers give their grandkids that kind of cash. Now im guessing the guy didn't have enough money to get on the marta so he needed some cash. When he looked in his wallet he probably realized he didn't have any money so he runs back to the guy and asks for 4 dollars to pay the token. Now if a guy did this to me I would tell him that he already gave it to me so its pretty much mine, and that it is my birthday. It is funny how people do not think before doing something stupid like this. Luckily the guy was not caught, but I really hope they find hime so that atlantiens get to find out what he needed those four dollars for.

It's the end of the world.

If for some reason that were to happen I would somehow raid and collect as much food as I could before the storm hit. Then I would find the nearest abandoned building where no one could get to me. I would also bring alot of books and magazines, along with a radio, to keep up on the outside world. Should someone try to invade my area I would easily take them down with my hidden claymores I set up around the building. Also I would definitely have some type of pistol or fire arm to stay safe. I would probably hide out and survive of the rations I have until the whole barbaric zombie like society dies down and the government finally comes in. I would have to say that the experience would be surreal and if it did happen I think I would be able to survive it. I feel like I have the ability to be able to not eat and survive for a couple of days. Another thing I would bring is a ton of cigarettes. I could just picture myself getting bored and just smoking my life away. I think the problem with these types of situations like you see in the movies is that heroes are eventually going to die in real life not like in the movies where you have 9 of them. In real life the smart people are the ones who get as much items as they can and stay in one place and out of other peoples problems. Call it cowardice, but I just want to stay alive.

Angola State Penetentiary

This past weekend i had the chance to visit Angola state prison in Louisiana. Let em just say that is an experience that I will never forget. After the 10 hour long bus ride which i slept most of, we were greeted with open arms by the warden of the prison who has really changed it from the nickname " bloodiest prison in America" to the most safe one. People actually live on the massive land and even can enjoy a round of golf. The grounds were maintained clean and everything seemed to be peaceful even though we were in a prison where 95% of the inmates would eventually die there. Our first day was pretty much just speaking with some of the inmates who lived there and how they had come to terms with what they had done and how they felt forgiven and could die in peace. Many of the stories I heard were so moving, you would not have thought you were in a prison. On Saturday I had the opportunity to visit inmates on death row and I had a chance to talk to a guy who was just one year older than me. It definitely opened my eyes to the dangers out there in the world. It was amazing to see how peaceful most of the inmates were and how much freedom they were given under the warden who was an amazing man himself. If you ever have the chance to visit you will surely not be disappointed.

Cheating on the SAT

I read a story in the ajc today about how some kid was paid by six other kids to take the SAT for them. What I want to know is how that is even possible and also how much was he paid. I have only taken the test twice and both times I found it hard to even manage cheating on it. The schools where you take them always have those crazy ass moms who are making sure that you are who you say you are. It also sucks because people who were probably really hoping to get in to the schools they wanted to go to might not because someone who cheated on their SATs did better than he or she.
"The students had registered to take the tests at a different school where they would not be recognized. Eshaghoff then went to the schools and showed a photo ID with his picture, but another student's name on it, Rice said. At least once, Eshaghoff flew home from college primarily to impersonate two students and took the SAT twice in one weekend."
I guess the SAT board needs to do a better job of verifying that a student is who he says he is.
"Tom Ewing, a spokesman for The College Board, which sponsors the SAT tests, applauded the district attorney's office and school officials, and said it cooperated with the investigation."
Well that is nice to know that they are cooperating, but what steps are being taken to assure people that cheating will not occur again?

My Favorite Movie(s)

I do not have just one favorite movie, but if i had to choose three movies if i were stuck on an island forever they would have to be 1. Double Indemnity 2. Gone with the Wind and 3. The Godfather collection. I know that the last two movies i picked are rather famous and everyone in their lifetime will eventually see them. The first I chose however is an old classic about an insurance salesman who is deceived by this women to kill her husband so that she can eventually collect his life insurance policy. If you have never seen it I highly recommend it.

The Rumble in the Jungle

This past weekend my brother and I debated on whether purchasing the Maywether vs. Ortiz boxing bout. After hearing about what happen I am pretty glad I didn't. The whole thing lasted 4 rounds and could easily be viewed on youtube. If I were a boxing enthusiest I would have been ashamed an embarassed by maywethers actions. If you saw the video you would see that Ortiz clearly headbutts maywether. Obviously that was wrong and he tried and successfully apologized for it by kissing maywether on the cheek and accepting his point deduction. Maywether on the other hand saw this as an opportuniuty for an easy victory. As the two were making up to me it seemed that maywether whispered something in his ear. I personally thought Maywether said something along the lines of "Hey you headbutted me let me get a free hit on you and call it even". As you can see in the video ortiz accepts his first blow and then is hit once again by a powerful shot by maywether. Ortiz goes down and the fight is over. What shocked me more was that Ortiz didn't react like I thought most boxers would with something that controversial. There are so many angles you can spin this match on. It was either set up or Maywether is a dirty boxer who wanted the more flashier victory.

Congress sucksssss

In a new york times article posted today it states how congress has matched the lowest approval rating since 08.
"as it wades into the debate over the $447 billion jobs package proposed by President Obama, with just 12 percent of Americans now approving of the way Congress is handling its job, matching its all-time low, recorded in October 2008 at the height of the economic crisis, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll."
-New York Times
Honestly, in my opinion i dont know how these people get paid. From what I hear in the news these guys just argue all day and never get anything done. I believe that congressman should get paid on the amount of work they actually do. Think of those savings for the economy.
“They get persuaded by the almighty dollar and don’t listen to the American people about health care, or abortion, or gun control or immigration laws,”
How do comments like these encourage people to vote?? How are we as Americans suppose to trust people who dont listen or care about other people. All politicians care about is money. period.

You spilled my beer!

This Colbert sketch was pretty damn funny and I think it does not do justice for Georgia, but then again you could find any redneck town in the south and find the same kind of stories. I think half of the videos you find on tosh.o or any other comedic video clip show are mostly from southern states where beer and fireworks go hand and hand. Therefore I do not think that this solves the whole "deliverance" persona that southern states have but by now no one is really going to change their past. I'm sure that drunk guy in the clip has been drunk ever since he could stand and nothing can really change in that kind of environment. As for that newspaper, it must be the least read in the world and I am really surprised that it got national recognition. As much as I hate social media I applaud the fact that the reporter did investigating the old fashion way but at some point they need to do some investigating on facebook and I guess twitter. Eventually they will learn to become a good investigatory newspaper, but until then enjoy the beer and fireworks.

Mr. Brainwash

After watching Exit through the gift shop I think that Thierry is a sell out for his art and I guess everyone he worked with is to blame. I am not hating on thierry though I think what he did was smart. He realized people are pretty stupid and dedcided to take advantage of them by making art that anybody else you could have got for a dollar at a garage sell. He though, made millions of dollars and started his on career doing something that a teen could do. I also think that this documentary is real and it was made to show how any guy with a camera who can spray some paint and glue paper to walls can become overnight millionaires. Although i give alot of credit to those people who do that. the stunt at disney world was pretty cool but I thought he was going to post his pictures on the wall and stuff. Of course everything that involves art goes through a debate whether it is real art or not. I think banksy and the other guys art work was pretty original and I would consider that art. Thierry's art though, I would not really say is art. Most of the art work I saw in his gallery was just reproduced pictures with thinkgs added on them. the only original thing he did was the picture of him with the camera.

PostBusters

It is a damn shame that one day everything is going to be online and the use of the post office is going to be useless. If you really think about the process that your mail goes through it is really quite amazing. A person comes to your house, drops off letters and magazines for you, picks up the mail that you want to send out, and then they do it all over again. How is it then that they can't stay afloat when it comes to financial things. If I were postmaster general I would increase the amount of money it cost to send and receive mail. Then again the fear that one day everything will be online and we could just send emails or facebook also causes this financial problem for the post office. That makes me really wonder. What is going to happen when paper is no longer needed. Where everything is done electronically. I was in the apple store the other day and just watched as nerd took peoples orders on their i-phones?? Also when I purchased my first ever apple product I didn't even know where to pay. It so happened that the cash registers were hidden in the desks that the computers were sitting on?? I say in 5 years the whole world is going to go paperless. Count on it.

JOB

I think the hardest thing in life is being a student who also needs a job to support himself. In my case I desperately need a job not only to continue going to school but to also have a roof over my head and a pillow to sleep on. No one ever wants to hire someone part time and now a days the only ways you can really get a job is if you know somebody high up in the company or if you know the management. Once again the only connections that I have are with big wigs who wouldn't even know what kind of made up job they could give me. Then again this is a good way for me to grow up and mature by seeking employment and living on my own. Sometimes though I just wish I were a kid again so I didn't have these worries in my life. Better than that I wish I were in high school where all I needed to worry about was making good grades and doing well in sports. As much as I want to grow up and have a career and kids the process in between all that can really do some damage on a person, but I will not despair. I will continue to search and one day realize that all this work payed off.

SUPA BASE

My girlfriend loves how catchy Niki Minajs music is and sometimes i agree that it is also catchy, but some times it is just realllly bad. Her video for super base, while it shows you a good time it also is very very wierd. Honestly I don't watch to many music videos so i really can not describe what a good or bad music video is. Music today in general is on a different level from what people are use to from before. Todays market targets young teens and even little kids to like the poppy music that it produces. The amount of crap music that is being played along with the crappy indie music that might be cool but probably isnt will eventually lead to music being more about money and fame than actually making good music.

Office Installations

I can say my one actual real job was and still is as an installer for a furniture and office company. The first year I worked there i mainly worked in the ware house where my duties consumed of recieving and delivering shipments of anything from desks to chairs and even marker boards. It was me and three other guys, and i guess you can say we were all diverse. The group consisted of me, the hispanic, Phil, the jew, Jacorey, the token black man, and RJ, the classic redneck. Now pretty much everyone fit the stereotypes that has been labeled by society. Myself, I worked hard and was pretty proficient. Phil also was the type of person who always worked hard . RJ, well he smoked weed, loved cars, and was pretty lazy when it came to work. Finally Jacorey, during my time there we grew as a family and as brothers so everything I say about him is pure love. When it came to work he most times complained and waited for others to start. When it came to attitude he always had it. Eventually it led to his future firing but I have kept in touch with him since and I can see that he has changed and now has a better job. Eventually I moved out into the field and the whole sterotype issue blew wide open. Personally i believe that most sterotypes are true, but there are always those exceptions.

Money

For the past two weeks I have had to survive without a huge refund check that I desperately need. Currently I have 2 dollars in my bank account and really have no one to ask for money. It says on the Georgia State financial aid page that our refunds are processed in the second week of the term and still on Tuesday I am waiting desperately. Not only will this money go towards rent which is due on the first but it will also go to the books that I need for my classes including this one. Why is money so important and why does it cause such stress? Why is money always involved in everything? No matter what all problems are rooted by money. Why though? After high school I became a volunteer in New York and lived basically for free for about a year. It allowed me to focus on helping others and I guess "find" myself in this now secular world. Now though, I can't find a job, struggle supporting myself and girlfriend, and struggle with my faith. One thing I can assure myself of is that I will never despair and lose hope. I thank God I have the opportunity to learn, live, and eat everyday.

Nation’s Cruelest Immigration Law

The Law preventing anyone to hire or help illegal immigrants takes effect on the first of September. Most people will say that this law will help the united states, but for others they claim that it will effect America harshly economically and also the culture that it has brought to this free state.  Personally, i believe that if illegal immigrants want to come into the country they should do it legally and not sneak in. Therefore i think the united states should make it achievable for those immigrants to become legal and experience the united states in an un hostile manner. It should be applauded that most illegal immigrants come to the united states to work and provide for their families who remain in their homeland. The American dream has become nothing, gone, no longer a dream. When did we as a society stop caring for others and helping those in need. People argue that illegal immigrants steal our jobs. Sure they do, but isn't it the jobs that no one wants not even those who don't have them? In 2010, i had the privelage to visit the outskirts of cancun and live among the poorest of the poor. Most of the women would stay in the towns raising their kids while the husbands would go and work in the nearby towns that were 3 or 4 hours away just to provide for their family. It helped me realize that kindness and generosity along with the american dream are dead and sparce. Next time your in a position for kindness you should seize it because it can lift someones spirits and promote a level of generosity in the person for the future.

One man hated by his own news station.

Sitting in the library I couldn't help but burst out laughing at John Stuart go off about how Fox news totally screwed over Ron Paul. I think it is pretty intentional of fox news to ignore him because he's probably the least popular of the "Top Tier" that the media is praising. I am a big fan of the daily show and Colbert report and think they portray how f'd up the media really is and how stupid they come off. They also do a good job showing how dumb and retarded politicians are and how anyone of the street could do a better job than most of them. Now being that I am not that interested in politics the only opinions that I can share are that Ron Paul seems like a really good candidate who doesn't change his ideals or beliefs depending on who his audience is, displayed in the rant by Stuart. It's funny how even Fox news doesn't even care about him. The clip where he is at an event and is tossed off to the side just because Sarah Palin is there shows just how unstable and just plain rude Fox news is. He is not even included in the "Top Tier" they claim even when he did pretty well in the Iowa straw poll. He is not even mentioned as a fourth or fifth place runner. Fox news is definetly hating on Ron Paul and I believe it is because of his unwillingness to change his views and suck the teet of Fox News.

La Celeste

In the mid 80's both of my parents immigrated to the United States from Uruguay. Most people today probably could not locate it on a map but they could say that they were cheering for them in the world cup even if soccer is not your favorite sport. I was born and raised in Lilburn Georgia just outside of the perimeter, but I have had the privileged to visit Uruguay twice in my lifetime and can say that it is a really beautiful country.  Both of my parents grew up in the capital of Montevideo surrounded by the coastline and illuminated by the lights of the city. My parents were the only ones who immigrated so during my visits there I would visit with family and enjoy the relaxed culture that surrounds the entire country. If anyone gets the chance to live or visit, I would highly recommend that you do so. Ever since I was little people have been telling me that I have a calling to teach. I remember my 8th grade geography teacher really inspiring me to learn and do well in school, because of him I was able to really apply myself and graduate with a high GPA. My major at Georgia State is World Geography, and what I plan to do is teach at my old high school and inspire others to do well so they can become what they dream to be. My favorite movies are boondock saints, snatch, lock stock, and most british comedies.
